More than a billion people live in China, and the persecution of Christians in that nation has gone to an entirely different level in 2025.

Earlier this month, over a thousand law enforcement personnel were involved in a massive operation that ultimately resulted in the arrest of hundreds of Christians…

Starting on Dec. 13, the Chinese Communist Party mobilized “more than a thousand police officers, SWAT units, anti-riot forces, and firefighters” in the Zhejiang Province’s Yayang Town in Wenzhou City, raiding churches and conducting mass arrests of Christians, ChinaAid reported Friday.

“Belongings of relevant individuals were illegally confiscated, roads leading to the church were completely blocked by police, and Christians in Yayang Town were unable to enter the Yayang church. The operation lasted nearly five days, yet no public statement was issued by officials,” the outlet noted. “Within just the first two days, several hundreds of people were taken away for questioning. On December 16 and 17, at least four more individuals were detained.”

Restrictions on the Christian faith in China just keep getting tighter and tighter.

Nobody under the age of 18 is permitted to go to church.

Those who are adults are only allowed to go to churches that are officially registered with the government.

Anyone who attempts to defy these rules is at risk of being rounded up and forcibly “de-programmed”…

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) and other religious liberty watchdogs have repeatedly warned that China’s totalitarian regime is enacting human rights abuses against religious groups within the nation’s border. A USCIRF report late last year detailed mass arrests and the destruction or removal of church property, part of CCP President Xi Jinping’s “sinicization of religion” policy. Religious groups and leaders who do not register with the official government-approved religious organizations are often arrested, imprisoned, and forced into “anti-cult” programs to “de-program” Christians.

In India, it is Hindu extremists who are doing the persecuting.

They have literally burned down hundreds of churches in recent years.

In other instances, mobs of Hindu extremists storm churches and start attacking those who are worshipping.

Earlier this year, I wrote about a mob of 200 extremists that stormed a church and beat the believers they found with iron rods.

More recently, an extremist mob in northern India viciously assaulted a small group of believers and forced them to burn a large pile of Bibles and Christian literature…

The Hindu extremists, whose number had then reached 80, searched their car, pulled out all Bibles and tracts and cast them onto the ground into a heap. They shot videos that showed the two couples, disoriented and in shock, forced to repeat that they intended “conversion” in the village and that they would never return.

The mob kicked the Bibles and spoke disrespectfully about Christ, Masih said.

Pastor Das was forced to write a letter of apology that the video shows in his hand. A member of the mob then took a bottle of flammable liquid from the hands of a boy standing with the mob and forced three of the Christians to sprinkle it on the Bibles and literature. After forcing Pastor Das to set the Bibles on fire, the mob then shouted praises to the Hindu god Rama.

In Nigeria, thousands upon thousands of Christians have been slaughtered this year alone.

President Trump had warned that he would do something about the Islamic terrorists that are doing the slaughtering, and on Christmas Day, he took action…

President Trump said Thursday that the U.S. launched “powerful and deadly” strikes against Islamic State forces in Nigeria, after spending weeks accusing the West African country’s government of failing to rein in the persecution of Christians.

“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!” Mr. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was.”

Hopefully, this will do something to reduce the violence.

So far in 2025, Islamic terrorists in Nigeria have killed over 12,000 people…

The violence in the northwest region, where the strikes occurred, is driven in large part by armed bandits and gangs kidnapping for ransom. The insurgency is concentrated in the northeast, where jihadist groups like the notorious Boko Haram and its now more powerful splinter, the Islamic State West Africa Province, an affiliate of the Islamic State group, have killed tens of thousands of civilians over the past decade.

Nigeria is not officially at war, but more people are killed there than in most war-torn countries. More than 12,000 people were killed by various violent groups this year alone, according to Armed Conflict Location and Event Data, a conflict monitoring group.

Collectively, more than three billion people live in the three nations that I have already mentioned in this article.

But the persecution that is going on in smaller countries such as North Korea and Eritrea is even worse…

Henrietta Blyth, CEO of Open Doors U.K. and Ireland, previously told Newsweek: “The persecution of Christians around the world is one of the great untold scandals of the 21st Century… It can take many forms: in North Korea, it may be a summary public execution without trial, merely for owning a Bible. In Eritrea, it can be 10 years spent in a blazing hot prison cell made from a metal shipping container, merely for belonging to an unregistered house church.”

According to Open Doors, North Korea is the number one global offender when it comes to Christian persecution, and Eritrea is number four…

I was amazed to see that there are 17 nations that rank ahead of China, because China has become a Big Brother police state on steroids.

Perhaps China ranks lower than some of the others because instead of just killing them, the Chinese round Christians up and simply make them “disappear”.

The good news is that persecution often makes the Christian faith grow rapidly, and we are seeing this happen in many areas of the globe.

In fact, it appears that we could actually use some serious persecution here in the United States, because what we are experiencing at this moment is being described as “the great unchurching”…

The U.S. is undergoing its fastest religious shift in modern history, marked by a rapid increase in the religiously unaffiliated and numerous church closures nationwide.

Why it matters: The great unchurching of America comes as identity and reality are increasingly shaped by non-institutional spiritual sources — YouTube mystics, TikTok tarot, digital skeptics, folk saints and AI-generated prayer bots.

When you are facing the fire of persecution, what you do or don’t believe suddenly becomes very clear.

Throughout human history, tyrants have tried and failed to stamp out the Christian faith.

The same thing is true in our time.

Countless believers are choosing imprisonment or death rather than choosing to deny Christ.

If you were faced with the same choice, what would you choose?

You might want to think about that, because the global persecution of Christians is only going to intensify during the very challenging years that are ahead of us.

In certain parts of Nigeria, if you are a Christian, you have to live with the knowledge that your community could literally be attacked by Islamic terrorists at any moment.  According to the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law, so far this year over 7,000 Christians that live in that nation have been slaughtered…

More than 7,000 Christians had been killed in Nigeria during the first 220 days of 2025, a civil-society watchdog said.

This is an average of 35 killings a day, according to the recent report published by the Nigeria-based human-rights NGO International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety).

At this pace, the total death toll for the year will easily surpass 10,000.

And that does not even include those that are being abducted, raped, tortured, maimed or forced from their homes.

Since 2009, 125,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria, and at least 12 million Christians have been displaced…

The violence has displaced at least 12 million Christians since 2009, according to Intersociety. That year marked the start of Boko Haram’s insurgency to establish a caliphate in Nigeria and the broader Sahel.

In the 16 years since, Intersociety estimates that 189,000 civilians have been killed—125,000 of whom were Christians and 60,000 liberal Muslims.

When radical Muslims take over an area, one of the first things they will do is to get rid of any existing churches.

During the past 16 years, 19,100 churches have been destroyed in Nigeria.

The level of persecution inside the country is staggering, and one expert is warning that Christianity in Nigeria is “gradually being wiped out”…

Christians are “gradually being wiped out” in Nigeria as millions face death, displacement and kidnapping from jihadist groups, several NGOs have told Newsweek.

“If nothing is done in the next few years, Christianity will cease to exist in Nigeria,” said Emeka Umeagbalasi, the founder of the local International Society for Civil Liberties & Rule of Law (Intersociety).

The jihadists that are conducting this genocide are worse than ISIS.

In fact, what they have been able to achieve far surpasses anything that ISIS ever accomplished.

But since this is happening to Christians, the mainstream media does not care and so most Americans do not care.

And so the killing will continue.  The following is from a report about one recent attack…

Islamic Terror group Boko Haram launched a deadly night assault on Sept. 23 on the Christian community of Wagga Mongoro in Madagali County, Adamawa state.

The insurgents stormed the village around 11:40 p.m., killing four Christians, injuring many others, and destroying homes, shops, and a local church building. The raid left the rural community in disarray, with hundreds of residents forced to flee in search of safety.

According to HumAngle, residents identified the victims as David Mbicho, his son Daniel, Jude Jacob, and Omega Duda. The attackers also burned motorcycles, vehicles, and several houses. Local vigilante groups attempted to confront the gunmen but were quickly overpowered by the militants’ superior firepower.

These sorts of attacks happen day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year.

But who is talking about this crisis?

I can’t remember the last time I heard a Christian leader speak publicly about it.

The only reason this crisis has been getting a little bit of attention lately is because it was brought up on a recent episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher”.

During that episode, Van Jones described what is happening in Nigeria as a “crime against African people, black people, and human rights”…

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” CNN Political Commentator Van Jones stated that there has been “almost no response from the global left and no attention from mainstream media” to the slaughter of Christians in Nigeria, and that lack of response and attention is “a crime against African people, black people, and human rights.”

I do not often agree with Van Jones about anything, but in this case, he was right on target.

In response, Bill Maher wondered why young people in the western world are not protesting this genocide…

The “Real Time” host said Boko Haram, an Islamist group in the region, is “literally attempting to wipe out the Christian population of an entire country,” asking, “Where are the kids protesting this?”

The reason why our young people do not care about this genocide is because they have not been programmed to care about this genocide.

Sadly, the truth is that we are all far more influenced by the mainstream media than we would like to admit.

The vast majority of our major news outlets are almost entirely ignoring the genocide that is transpiring in Nigeria, and Bill Maher does not have a high opinion of those particular news outlets…

“Nigeria, the fact that this issue has not gotten on people’s radar, it’s pretty amazing,” Maher said. “If you don’t know what’s going on in Nigeria, your media sources suck. You are in a bubble.”

Of course,Bill Maher lives in a bubble, too.

It is so difficult to break out of the control grid that has been carefully constructed to manipulate how we see the world.

The reason we consider certain things to be important is because we have been told that they are important.

If the American people truly understood what was going on in Nigeria, they would be putting a lot more pressure on our government to do something.

When Newsweek reached out to the State Department about the genocide in Nigeria, they were told that the State Department is “deeply concerned”…

The State Department has told Newsweek that it is “deeply concerned about the levels of violence against Christians and members of other groups in Nigeria.”

It is great to be “deeply concerned”, but that isn’t going to do anything to stop radical jihadists from slaughtering Christians.

If you are a Christian, it is so important to understand that this is just the beginning.

As I have been documenting for years, Christian persecution has been rising all over the planet.

Most of the population of the world now lives in a country where there is a significant level of Christian persecution.

But what we are seeing right now is nothing compared to what is coming.

What would you do if you were faced with a choice of either being executed for your faith or denying what you believe so that you can live?

Christians all throughout history have been faced with that choice, and all of us need to be ready to make that choice if needed.

Beginning in her usual fashion, Shemirani quoted Luke 8:17, “For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.”

The coroner was attempting to pervert the course of justice by not taking into account a witness who was at the scene when Shemirani’s daughter collapsed.  In that statement, she claimed to have witnessed the paramedics administer a shot into the leg, which is now something they are attempting to coverup despite the testimony, and their own records.

“Under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, Schedule 5, a coroner has the discretion to
summon witnesses where the evidence is necessary to establish ‘how, when, and in
what circumstances’ the deceased came by their death,” wrote Shemirani.  “However, this discretion is not
absolute and must be exercised in accordance with principles of natural justice and the
state’s procedural obligations under Article 2 of the European Convention on Human
Rights (ECHR).”

She then laid out the law and the violations of it.

1. Article 2 ECHR Right to Life
Under Article 2, the state has a positive duty to investigate deaths where state agents (e.g. paramedics, NHS staff) may be implicated. This duty requires an investigation that is effective, independent, and capable of identifying culpability or systemic failure. Refusing to call Katrine Lionnet, a direct eyewitness to the moment of paramedic
intervention, would obstruct this duty and render the inquest incompatible with Article 2.

2. R (Amin) v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2003] UKHL 51
This case established that inquests must establish the circumstances of the death and whether any state actors were responsible. As Katrine Lionnet directly witnessed the IO gun being used and Paloma’s subsequent deterioration, her testimony is fundamental to fulfilling this obligation.

3. R (Middleton) v West Somerset Coroner [2004] UKHL 10
Confirmed the requirement for narrative verdicts in Article 2 inquests where there is potential state involvement. Excluding key eyewitnesses undermines the integrity of this process.

4. Chief Coroner’s Guidance No. 17 Witnesses (2016)
Paragraph 2: ‘The coroner should call all witnesses necessary to enable the inquest to answer the statutory questions.’ Paragraph 8: ‘An interested person may propose a witness and the coroner must give
reasonable consideration as to whether that person is needed.’ Katrine Lionnet provides eyewitness evidence to the very time window in which Paloma’s catastrophic deterioration occurred. Her account is essential and materially
relevant.

Shemirani continued:

The Coroner has confirmed that Dr Bentley will give evidence regarding the actions of the HEMS/KSS team. However, it is a matter of record that Dr Bentley was not physically present when the first paramedics arrived at the scene and when the intraosseous injections IO were delivered. Katrine Lionnet was present and saw the IO gun being pressed into Paloma’s leg. Her account directly challenges the official narrative and provides first-hand, material evidence of the cause of iatrogenic injury and the rapid collapse that followed. This makes her evidence not only relevant but indispensable.

Tampering with Witness Testimony and Intimidation of a Carer

It is hereby placed on the record that the witness, Katrine Lionnet, cares full-time for her disabled adult child, has been subjected to direct intimidation and threat by the Area Coroner Catherine Judith Wood, including the threat of financial penalties.

“This constitutes a serious interference with a key witness who directly observed events on 19 July 2024, including the administration of intraosseous (IO) adrenaline, which forms the central medical and legal issue of the inquest,” Shemirani warned.

“Such actions may amount to witness intimidation, in breach of Section 51 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, which makes it an offence to threaten, intimidate, or cause harm to any witness involved in criminal or coronial proceedings,” Shemirani continued.  “The conduct in this instance undermines the fair administration of justice and may give rise to a separate criminal complaint.”

Furthermore, the Coroner is reminded of her duty under Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to ensure a fair hearing, and under Section 5(2) of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, to ensure that all relevant circumstances surrounding a death are fully and fearlessly investigated,” added the nurse of more than thrity years.  “Suppressing or threatening a witness in this manner directly violates these statutory obligations.”

Meanwhile, the WHO’s Pandemic Treaty, approved in May 2025, sets up the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing System (PABS) to “promot[e] the rapid and timely sharing of ‘materials and sequence information on pathogens with pandemic potential.’” (Article 12). This system will concentrate all the world’s most deadly pathogens into the hands of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats under the influence of the Chinese Communist Party and the pharmaceutical industry—the same globalist functionaries who so seriously botched the WHO’s response to Covid-19.

The WHO may then share them with labs all over the world, ostensibly to develop vaccines, diagnostics, and other treatments. This system poses a significant risk of escalating the chances of pandemics caused by lab leaks, as well as bioterrorist attacks. Although the United States and Argentina have withdrawn from the WHO, they will still be affected by the pandemics generated by the PABS System.

She issued a first press release this week, which you can read in full below.

According to the press release, Shemirani’s 23-year-old daughter had a “promising future” that was “cut short.”

“Now, instead of transparency, her death is being **covered up** through **conspiratorial connivance, perjury, perverting the course of justice, and institutional obstruction**—perpetrated by the **judicial system, law enforcement, and medical staff across two NHS trusts**,” she wrote.  “The circumstances of her death point to **fatal medical intervention**, with her **petite frame subjected to excessive dosing**—highly suggestive of an
**unregulated drug trial** that caused **irreversible brain damage**.”

Shemirani continued, “The inquest process has been deliberately manipulated to **suppress critical evidence**
and deny justice to a bereft family fighting for the truth.  **This is not just a case of medical negligence—it is an orchestrated cover-up of homicide at the hands of the very institutions meant to protect lives.**”

Nurse Kate points out that this is a national, and international, crisis that must be exposed and prosecuted.

She has called out the inquest taking place and the misconduct of the coroner involved, who has a criminal past.

According to the press release:

Penelope Schofield, the current senior coroner handling this case, has a documented history of perverting the course of justice and perjury. In 1997, she was sentenced to jail after being convicted of perverting the course of justice for lying to protect her then-boyfriend, a police officer who was caught driving at five times over the legal alcohol limit. The presiding judge stated that both she and her partner needed to serve custodial sentences to maintain public trust in the legal system. Despite this serious conviction, Schofield was merely suspended as a solicitor and later appointed as the senior coroner overseeing deaths at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals, including this case.

Schofield, without jurisdiction, unilaterally transferred this case from Sussex to Kent, citing a brief hospital admission a year earlier as justification. This move is legally dubious and appears to be an attempt to manipulate the judicial process to obscure critical facts. Furthermore, she only intervened after the original coroner issued a death certificate with the **wrong name**, forcing the family to fight for six months just to obtain a corrected document so they could apply for probate.

Her actions suggest clear **ultra vires** behaviour—exceeding her legal authority—and amount to another effort to pervert the course of justice. With a documented history of perjury and obstruction, her involvement in this case casts serious doubt over the credibility of the entire inquest process. This case is of **massive public interest**, not
only for the victim’s family but also for other families seeking justice under a coroner who has already demonstrated corruption and judicial misconduct.

Imagine that!  A criminal coroner heads up the alleged autopsy in the murder of Shemirani’s daughter, and yet, she’s still committing crimes because justice has never been dealt to her, but it’s coming.

It appears that though they claimed to have an autopsy, the reality is that no forensic analysis nor toxicology report was performed as part of said autopsy.

“The entire post-mortem examination was fundamentally flawed, failing to meet even the most basic forensic standards required in cases of sudden or unexplained deaths,” she wrote.  “This lack of scrutiny raises serious concerns about procedural integrity and suggests a deliberate effort to suppress key evidence that could confirm medical malpractice or homicide.”

Shemirani also discovered that her daughter was more than likely involved in a drug trial without her consent and illegally administrated.

This case is not part of the 105 suspicious deaths currently involved in a massive police investigation and overseen by Schofield, but represents yet another instance of preventable loss of life at Brighton ICU. The victim suffered a collapse at home and received excessive adrenaline administration. At the time, the **Warwick University
Paramedic 3 Drug Trial** was running in the area, raising serious questions about whether she was subjected to an unauthorised experimental drug regimen. The lack of toxicology testing makes it impossible to determine whether unapproved medications played a role in her decline.

The family had already began collating all the evidence for legal proceedings against a consultant at Maidstone Hospital for **medical battery, falsified evidence, perverting the course of justice, and conspiracy to cover up the lack of lawful consent**. This consultant failed to account for a previously identified underlying heart condition, instead choosing a predetermined drug regimen that ignored differential diagnoses. **Maidstone Hospital ranks among the top five hospitals in the UK for active drug trials**, suggesting a strong possibility that the victim was subjected to medical experimentation without informed consent.

The concerning links between Brighton and Maidstone Hospitals, along with the coroners blocking any police investigation, suggest a broader pattern of institutional collusion to cover up cases of medical malpractice and prevent criminal liability.

Nurse Kate has also called out the courts and police over the homicide and coverup.

“This case has exposed a massive institutional cover-up involving the judicial system, law enforcement, and the hospital itself,” she wrote.  “The failures of law enforcement to properly investigate, the deliberate obfuscation by the coroner, and the hospital’s refusal to provide transparent medical records all point to a concerted effort to conceal the true cause of death. This is not just a case of medical negligence—it is an orchestrated cover-up to hide the reality of a homicide.”

“This is an issue of **massive public interest**, Shemirani concluded.  “Every day, preventable deaths occur under similar circumstances, with institutions working to suppress the truth. We demand transparency, accountability, and full legal investigations to ensure that no more families are subjected to this miscarriage of justice.”

Whenever I write about anything, there are people out there that get upset.  This seems to be particularly true when I write about diseases.  After what we have been through in recent years, there are a lot of people that never want to hear the word “pandemic” ever again.  I can definitely understand that.  But I am not here to write what people want to hear and make them feel all warm and fuzzy.  In Matthew 24, Jesus specifically told us that there would be multiple “pestilences” in the days just before His return.  Is Jesus a liar?  Of course not.  At this point, we simply do not know if Monkeypox is one of the “pestilences” that Jesus warned us about, but I think that it is worth watching because the World Health Organization is certainly making a big deal out of it.

One day after this new mutant strain of Monkeypox was designated as a “public health emergency of international concern” by the World Health Organization, we received shocking news that a case had been confirmed in Sweden…

Sweden on Thursday announced the first case outside Africa of the more dangerous variant of mpox, which the WHO has declared a global public health emergency.

The country’s public health agency confirmed to AFP that it was the same strain of the virus that has surged in the Democratic Republic of Congo since September 2023, known as the Clade 1b subclade.

I didn’t expect to see a case in Europe so soon.

In fact, I was hoping that I wouldn’t be writing about Monkeypox for quite some time.

But now that this new strain is on the loose, it could become an enormous global story.

We are being told that the infected person in Sweden had recently been to an area in Africa where this new strain is spreading…

The person was infected during a visit to “the part of Africa where there is a major outbreak of mpox clade I,” state epidemiologist Magnus Gisslen said in the statement.

The patient “has received care,” Gisslen said. The agency added that Sweden “has a preparedness to diagnose, isolate and treat people with mpox safely.”

Hopefully, they were able to isolate this individual in time.

But even if they did, the chapter of the World Health Organization in Europe is expecting that there will be more “imported cases of Clade 1 in the European region over the coming days and weeks”…

WHO/Europe said it was actively engaging with Sweden’s health authorities on “how best to manage the first confirmed case of mpox Clade 1b”.

It urged other countries to act quickly and transparently like Sweden, as there were likely to be further “imported cases of Clade 1 in the European region over the coming days and weeks”.

And an expert in the UK says that he believes that there is “almost certainly” cases of this new strain in the UK right now…

Meanwhile, Microbiologist, Professor Paul Hunter from the University of East Anglia told Times Radio the new variant of MPox is “almost certainly” in the UK already.

When asked about the chances of the disease being in the UK already, he said: “Almost certainly. We saw with the 2022 pandemic of Mpox, with the clade 2, that once it gets into sexual networks, it can spread very rapidly around the world and it’s actually very difficult to control that spread.

“So yeah, I think it’s not surprising that we’ve had a first case in Europe, and I think we’re going to see more. I think we will undoubtedly see cases in the UK over the coming weeks.”

In 2022, Monkeypox was primarily being spread through sexual contact.

But now the BBC is reporting that it can be spread by “talking or breathing close to another person”…

Mpox, which was previously known as monkeypox, is transmitted through close contact, such as sex, skin-to-skin contact and talking or breathing close to another person.

That is news to me.

I had not heard that you can catch Monkeypox by talking to someone.

Has something changed?

There is still so much about this new strain that we do not know.

When Monkeypox spread all over the globe in 2022, the death rate was very low.

But the death rate for this new strain is much, much higher…

The current strain causing concern among scientists is known as clade 1b and kills one in 20 adults. Its fatality rate in children is higher – one in 10. The virus is also believed to cause miscarriages in pregnant women.

The Swedish public health agency said Clade 1 was likely to be linked to “a higher rise of a more severe course of disease and higher mortality”.

Even if you don’t die, if you get infected it may be an experience that you will never forget for the rest of your life.

When a 35-year-old charity worker named Harun Tulunay got infected, the pain that he experienced was unlike anything he had ever felt before…

His test confirmed he had monkeypox, and only then did lesions often associated with monkeypox begin to appear on his hands, legs, and feet.”My throat was covered,” he said, explaining that the lesion on his nose was bigger and had become infected.“I was scared I would die alone in my hospital room,” he said. “I’d never been in so much pain in my life.”

Another Monkeypox victim, 29-year-old Luke Brown, says that nothing that the doctors gave him even dented the pain…

For the next few days, I was in excruciating pain—the worst pain of my life. I’ve been in a car wreck. I’ve had sinus surgery four times. I’ve had wisdom teeth out. I’ve had COVID-19 and mono. I’ve broken my hand, and the pain was nothing like this. Doctors put me on gabapentin [a medication used to treat pain from shingles], and I was also on ibuprofen and acetaminophen, but nothing even dented the pain.

What these people went through is very real.

You definitely do not want this disease.

This new mutant strain has already killed hundreds of people in Africa, and health officials seem to believe that it is probably just a matter of time before it spreads all over the globe.

Once again, I want to stress that I do not know if this is one of the “pestilences” that we should be watching for, but without a doubt, we live at a time when great pestilences are coming.

Just like everyone else, I am watching global events and trying to figure things out the best that I can.

So let’s watch and see what happens.  Over time, it will become clear whether this new strain of Monkeypox is a major threat to us or not.

But sticking our heads in the sand and ignoring global events as they spiral out of control isn’t going to do anyone any good.

The post Literally Just One Day Later, We Got A Major Confirmation That Something Really Big Could Be Happening appeared first on The Washington Standard.

While American politicians and media predictably denounce the socialist victory in Venezuela, dozens of American electoral observers on the ground endorsed the process. MintPress reports from Caracas.

Much to the chagrin of the U.S. government, socialist candidate Nicolas Maduro won a third successive term in office on Sunday, convincingly beating his U.S.-backed opponents, Edmundo Gonzalez and Maria Corina Machado, by seven points.

Almost immediately after the results were announced, American officials began decrying the elections as a farce. “We commend [the Venezuelan people’s] courage and commitment to democracy in the face of repression,” Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a speech on Sunday evening, adding:

We have serious concerns that the result announced does not affect the will or the votes of the Venezuelan people. It is critical that every vote be counted fairly and transparently. That election officials immediately share information with the opposition and independent observers without delay, and that electoral authorities publish the detailed tabulation of votes. The international community is watching this very closely, and will respond accordingly.”

Senator Marco Rubio, a longtime Venezuela hawk, went further, stating, “Everybody knows massive voter turnout like the one today in Venezuela would result in a massive loss by Maduro. The ONLY way he wins is with massive fraud.”

He went on to say that Maduro should have lost by 40 points and would immediately institute a communications blackout across the country in an effort to cement his rule (something that did not happen).

Statements like these completely contrast the accounts and testimonies of dozens of American electoral observers in Venezuela, many of whom spoke with MintPress News.

“I don’t agree with Marco Rubio,” said Wyatt Souers, a representative of the International People’s Assembly, explaining that:

The U.S. has tried to destabilize and undermine the legitimacy of basically every Venezuelan election in recent memory. Ahead of the election, they always put out statements and media pieces, declaring the election a fraud before it even happens. But what we have witnessed this week is tons of support for the Maduro government amongst the people here.”

Souers visited several polling stations in the Caracas area and noted that turnout was “massive”, with hundreds of people inside the voting stations at any given time.

We got to go in and see the voting process. Everything was happening according to protocol. And so, I would say it seems like these elections are legitimate, and we fully support the right of the Venezuelan people to determine their own future.”

Roger D. Harris, an observer from Task Force on the Americas, spent the day observing electoral centers in Miranda State. He and others told MintPress that opposition supporters were perfectly happy to publicly announce their allegiances and express their grievances with the government. Despite their opposition to socialism, most retained confidence in the electoral system. As Harris noted:

I spoke to a person who is voting against Maduro, a professional who studied psychology in San Francisco. She was hopeful for change. But what was very significant was that she thought that the electoral process is free and fair. Overall, our impression of going to the various polling places was that people were very welcoming to us international observers, and were very proud to be out there voting for their country.”

No Comparison with the US

Many U.S. observers who spoke with MintPress were quick to compare the Venezuelan system favorably with their own. “I am actually kind of blown away by how advanced this system is, particularly compared to the backward nature of the U.S., so I am completely impressed,” Jodi Dean, a professor and political scientist, said.

“We witnessed several polling stations, and we did not see any irregularities or anything that would point to any type of fraud or illegitimacy. The voting process here is much more rigorous than in the United States,” Souers told MintPress. “They have a very good process here.”

Elizabeth Burley, a representative of Unión de Vecinos, a Los Angeles tenants’ union, spent election day monitoring voting in La Guaira state and noted a number of superior features of Venezuelan democracy, including that the polling system is automated and completely consistent between localities. Furthermore, she said, Venezuelan elections are held on Sunday rather than midweek as they are in the U.S., allowing more people to participate. Burley noted that she was able to go inside stations and observe everything and that there were witnesses from both government and opposition parties present. Apart from a few verbal exchanges between left and right-wing voters, she said, events proceeded in a state of calm.

MintPress, however, witnessed a crowd of over 100 opposition supporters arrive at a voting center in central Caracas at 6 pm, attempting to force polling stations to close exactly on time. The crowd tried to block latecomers from voting but without success. One opposition supporter blocking the door said, “Nobody should be allowed to vote unless they are from our side.”

Media Undermines a Trustworthy Process

Western media appeared as eager as the U.S. government to undermine the elections in Venezuela and agitate for political strife. “Venezuela’s Autocrat Is Declared Winner in Tainted Election,” ran the New York Times headline. The BBC described Maduro’s celebration party as “choreographed,” implying he does not enjoy widespread support. Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Twitter, retweeted a call from far-right Argentinian politician Javier Milei to the Venezuelan military to stage a coup against Maduro. “Shame on dictator Maduro,” Musk said.

Fake news abounds on social media as well, as images circulate of thieves supposedly stealing election boxes full of ballots. What can clearly be seen in those videos, however, are people taking huge air conditioning units. Ballot boxes in Venezuela are made of brown cardboard and are barely larger than a shoebox. The giant white appliances thieves drag out with them in the video bear zero resemblance to ballot boxes.

Hoax pictures, supposedly showing National Electoral Council (CNE) headquarters with screens all showing the “real” result (an opposition victory), went viral, as did a screenshot from a TeleSUR infographic that incorrectly stated that three minor opposition parties received 4.6% of the vote each, instead of combined. This meant the entire vote on TeleSUR’s graphic added up to 109%. That relatively minor data entry error was enough for the image to go viral around the world, supposedly proving a gigantic fraud, despite the fact that its source was merely a TV channel rather than the CNE itself.

In reality, the Venezuelan electoral system is perhaps the most advanced in the world. To cast a ballot, voters must present their national identification card. They also have their fingerprints scanned. If both the I.D. card and fingerprint match those on the national database, they can vote on a touchscreen electronic voting machine. The electronic vote is sent to the National Electoral Commission headquarters in Caracas, and a paper ballot is printed. Voters must check the ballot and place it in a box. Afterward, they must put their thumb on an ink blot and stamp it next to their name on an electoral roll to prove they have voted. They then physically sign their name beside the fingerprint. When polls close, paper ballots are counted in front of witnesses from all parties and compared to the electronic vote count. If there are any discrepancies, a full audit is conducted. In 2013, the electronic vote was 99.98% accurate. This was because, across Venezuela, 22 people who had voted on the machines failed to put their paper ballot in the box.

In 2012, President Jimmy Carter (whose Carter Center regularly monitors elections worldwide) described the Venezuelan process as “the best in the world.”

“Everything has been calm to the point of boring,” Dean said of the election process, adding:

People are happy and welcoming tons of foreigners to look and see what they are doing and explain it patiently, with confidence and real enthusiasm for democracy. Actually, I think that one of the reasons that there is so much cynicism in the United States about democracy is that people don’t trust the system. And here, part of their enthusiasm is that they have a lot of confidence in their system, that their voice will be heard.”

An Economic, Political and Psychological War

Nicolas Maduro came to power in 2013 in a similarly heavily-monitored election. The results were endorsed globally, almost without exception; the United States was the only country to refuse to recognize his victory.

Since his rise to power, Washington has waged a relentless economic war on Venezuela in an attempt to strangle his administration. There are currently over 900 U.S. sanctions against the country. The effect has been devastating: under the weight of the American blockade, Venezuela’s oil industry collapsed, causing it to lose 99% of its international income. Under threats of secondary sanctions, countries and businesses refused to trade with Venezuela, causing massive shortages of food and other necessary goods.

A report published by the Center for Economic and Policy Research, a D.C. think tank, found that, between 2017 and 2018, the U.S. blockade had killed more than 40,000 people. One American United Nations official who visited the country described the situation as akin to a “Medieval siege” and declared the U.S. guilty of crimes against humanity.

The economic war is mirrored by a political war, as Washington has attempted to isolate Venezuela internationally. Media, too, have played their part, constantly demonizing Venezuela as a failed state presided over by a dictatorship. In his victory speech on Sunday evening, Maduro claimed the results were a victory of truth over lies and decried the “dirty war” against Venezuela being played out in the press and on social media.

The U.S. has supported multiple coup attempts against Maduro and his predecessor, Hugo Chavez. It has also spent tens of millions funding opposition groups, including NGOs, student organizations, and political parties. Marina Corina Machado is a case in point. The opposition leader’s “human rights” group, Súmate, was bankrolled by the CIA front group, the National Endowment for Democracy.

Fighting US Imperialism

Venezuela has been a target because it offers an alternative vision of how society should be organized. Under Hugo Chavez, Venezuela nationalized its vast oil industry and used the profits to fund massive social welfare programs, including free healthcare, education and housing. Under Chavez, poverty was reduced by half, and extreme poverty was reduced by three-quarters. Illiteracy was eradicated, and the student population grew to become the fourth largest in the world. Venezuela became an inspiration around the globe, especially as it led the movement for a more multipolar world, offered unqualified support for Palestinian liberation, and gave its oil away for free to poor countries and communities, including black and Native American populations in the U.S. who had their homes heated for free or at heavily discounted rates courtesy of the Venezuelan government.

U.S. sanctions have devastated the country. But the Maduro administration appears to have successfully weathered the worst of the storm. Stores are full again, inflation has been tamed, and Venezuela now produces 96% of the food it consumes. On top of that, Maduro’s signature housing policy, Misión Gran Vivienda Venezuela, just celebrated the building of its five-millionth apartment. “Venezuela is healing” is a common slogan across the country.

While the likes of Anthony Blinken and Marco Rubio condemn the electoral process in Venezuela, their positions are not supported by the dozens of Americans who were actually on the ground in Venezuela last week. It is doubtful, however, that those observers’ words and testimonies will be heeded by those in power. After all, for the U.S. Empire, some issues are too important to let the truth get in the way.

A mass stabbing in Southport occurred at a ‘Taylor Swift’ dance party for children between three and 12 years old. A witness has told how “six or seven girls” are among the victims, with the mass stabbing reportedly taking place during a children’s Taylor Swift dance and Yoga class.

A young girl was killed and seven others were injured when a hooded, knife-wielding maniac rampaged through a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop in the UK Monday morning, authorities said.

The horror unfolded shortly before noon in Southport in northwest England outside Liverpool, when the unidentified man attacked the children before he was taken into custody by police, according to reports.

Witnesses said the attacker wore a “black hood” when he entered The Hart Space, where the yoga and dance event took place, the Daily Mail reported.

At least 25 children were taking part in the event when the attack unfolded, the Mail said.

“It is like a scene from a horror movie,” local merchant Colin Parry told the BBC. “The are coming here now and screaming. It’s like something from America, not like sunny Southport.”

The wounded girls were rushed to three local children’s hospitals, where they were being treated after the attack.

“Horrendous and deeply shocking news emerging from Southport,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement.

“My thoughts are with all those affected,” Starmer said. “I would like to thank the police and emergency services for their swift response. I am being kept updated as the situation develops.”
